Effective 08/12/2024: Notice of Changes to Bulk Item Drop-Off

Starting August 12, 2024, residents can no longer drop off bulk items (like furniture) at the City Yard. Instead, you should request a weekend pickup by the City’s Department of Public Works, for free. To do this, simply fill out the online form at this link: https://www.sdlportal.com/towns/nj/passaic/paterson/requests. The form is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Bengali. 

Regular trash will still be collected by FILCO twice a week according to your zone. If you have any issues with your garbage not being picked up, please call FILCO directly at 1-(833) GO FILCO or 1-(833)-463-4526.

How To Schedule my Bulk Pickup

Step 1:
Click Here to Create an Account on SDL

Step 2:
Select the Bulk Pickup form (English, Spanish, Arabic, and Bangladeshi versions available)

Step 3:
Submit your information, including your corresponding Zone and the items to pickup

Step 4:
Check your email (and "Spam" folder). You will receive a confirmation of your submission. Please check back the status for "Accepted" or "Denied" within 24 hours. If “Accepted”, remember to place the items on the curb by 6am on that day.

1. WHY IS THERE A CHANGE IN THE BULK TRASH PICKUP?
For over 20 years, the City of Paterson has used the same garbage collection program. As costs for municipal garbage collection rise, the Administration, in collaboration with other departments and advisement from consulting firms, looked for alternative ways to reduce costs. 

2. WHAT ARE THE CHANGES?
Effective January 2, 2024, the Department of Public Works will pick up Bulk Waste for free.

3. WHAT ARE THE FEES?
Curbside pickup is Free.

4. HOW CAN I SCHEDULE A BULK PICKUP?

A bulk pickup should be scheduled online at: https://www.SDLPortal.com and click: “Sign Up” to create an account and submit your request. Bulk pickups will only occur on weekends, upon request. Please make sure to submit your request no later than 4pm Thursday prior to the weekend.
