Threat Time Through 11:00 PM Friday
The City of Paterson Office of Emergency Management would like to inform residents that spotty showers and a couple of downpours are around this morning. While they will remain hit-or-miss through mid-afternoon if you get stuck under one, it can still be on the heavier side. The main window to watch for an isolated tornado risk will be with a line of storms/downpours late afternoon into this evening. This will also be the primary timeframe for flooding, as heavy rain rates will lead to poor drainage issues and isolated creek flooding. In addition, it will turn windier this afternoon, and gusts of 40 - 45 miles per hour can down trees, leading to localized power outages. By tonight, this system will quickly move off to the east, with rain ending in the first half of the night. Then, the weather this weekend will be pleasant and dry.
Hazards:
Rainfall Rates: As high as .30 to .60 inches per hour.
Storm Total Rainfall: 1.00 to 2.00 inches, locally 1”; Debby’s remnants gusty winds late afternoon Friday into Friday night.
Wind: Southeast winds increase 15-25, evening gusts 40-45 miles per hour (4:30 – 7:30 PM).
Flash Flood Impacts:
- Poor drainage areas and along the Passaic River
- Stay off bridges over fast-moving water.
- Flooding basements
- Do not drive around barricades or closed-off streets.

- Bridge Street
- Main Street & Levine Street
